Ayurveda is the science of life!


Season

Ayurveda recognizes that seasonal change and the qualities of the climate we live in have a profound effect on our health – "our outer environment influences our inner world"!  The cold, damp, heavy and wet weather of winter increases these qualities in our bodies. In Ayurveda, these qualities are the combination of the vata and kaphadoshas.  To bring balance to the mind, body and skin, one needs to keep warm, dry and nourished – the opposite qualities of the winter season.

General recommendations to create wellness balance for winter are:

Diet

  • Drink plenty of warm water to keep the skin hydrated
  • Consume plenty of warm, home-cooked meals
  • Stock up on immune- boosting foods that are fresh and easy to digest - organic milk, vegetables, fruit, whole grains, ghee (clarified butter)
